Strong
Sony a6600 is a compact, feature-packed APS-C mirrorless camera that stands out for its class-leading autofocus, reliable in-body image stabilization, and extended battery life. Although it offers significant performance for hybrid creators, the aging sensor, lack of modern connectivity ports, and awkward control layout can make it a frustrating experience for some users.

- DPReview 83/100
The Sony a6600 has an industry-leading autofocus system, is capable of excellent images and video, comes with very useful in-body image stabilization and has the best battery life of any mirrorless camera on the market at this time.
-
The A6600 builds-upon the series so-far to become Sony’s most powerful APSC mirrorless camera to date.
-
On the face of it, Sony has ticked all the boxes with the Alpha 6600. It’s small, fast, weather-sealed, and includes in-body stabilisation.
-
The Sony a6600 is a bit of a paradox. One one hand it is the best APS-C camera that Sony has ever produced.
-
All in all, the A6600 has a lot to offer, and checks all the boxes in terms of what you’re probably looking for in a portable, affordable, yet highly capable digital camera system.
-
As Sony's flagship APS-C mirrorless camera, it seems a shame that the camera doesn't offer CINE-4K video (others in this price range do), or 4K at 60fps, and it's also a shame that the USB connection hasn't been updated to USB Type-C.
-
The new flagship A6600 begs, borrows and steals features from further down Sony's extensive range of APS-C models and also further up from the A7 full-frame cameras, but it doesn't quite get the balance right between old and new.
-
The A6600 has plenty of enticing features, but it's let down by disappointing body design.
-
The Sony a6600 looks an excellent camera for video and vlogging, and its stunning AF, in-body image stabilization and large battery make it suitable for demanding stills photography.
-
Sony brings its class-leading autofocus tech and big Z battery to its a6600 APS-C camera, but we wish there were improvements in other areas too.
-
On paper, the a6600 should be the APS-C camera to beat, with a top-performing sensor and a range of features that will appeal to a broad swath of photographers.
-
The Sony Alpha a6600 is expensive, but it delivers impressive quality, performance and a slew of useful features.
-
It’s not the best price for an APS-C mirrorless camera, but its long list of features gives it many reasons for the added cost.
-
Given Sony's technical leadership in the camera industry, the release of the A6600 is a head-scratcher.
-
It's an evolutionary update, but the A6600 is still top dog thanks to better battery life and best-in-class autofocus.
-
The Sony A6600 is Sony's APS-C solution and with it's viewfinderless box like design it is to be honest a bit of a mixed bag. [...] But on the other, the quirks make the handling a little frustrating.
-
The Sony A6600 is a feature-packed camera, but it's not without its frustrations.
-
This lightweight camera punches well above its weight — exhibiting incredible image quality for still images and video.
-
If you're looking for a small, durable camera that packs a lot of punch then the Sony A6600 is the camera for you.
-
Once again, Sony has proven that it is capable of producing well-specced, well-performing cameras that should hold lots of appeal to the enthusiast photographer.
-
The A6600 is a dream to use. Comfortable, fast and mounted with a good number of body controls; this is a camera that experienced photographers will get to grips with in no time.
-
The Sony a6600 remains a fantastic choice in 2025 for hybrid creators seeking a reliable and versatile APS-C camera.
-
Alright guys, so at the end of the day the Sony a6600 is a very powerful crop factor even out camera from Sony and I recommend it. It's a great camera, it's a lot of money though, fourteen hundred dollars is a lot of money.
-
This might very well be my favorite APS-C camera as of right now.
-
The bottom line is the Sony a6600 is one of the best APS-C sensor cameras on the market.
-
[W]e're really impressed with the video performance and new features present in the Sony a6600.
-
If you're looking for a small camera that has a very robust feature set, the Sony a6600 basically takes the best of everything across the whole a6000 lineup and puts it into one camera.
-
The A6600 is a great little camera if you don't mind having no built-in flash — which I do. As a still shooter I wouldn't buy the A6600 because I'd have to haul an external flash with me, eliminating the whole point of a small camera.
-
[T]he 6600, I have to say, is the best mirrorless camera in the APS-C realm that I've had the pleasure of using.
-
Anyhow, the 6600 is a fantastic camera. It's not really cheap, to be honest, especially when you're starting on YouTube, but when you're a little bit more advanced, or when you want to take the YouTube game serious. Really guys, the a6600 improves your workflow a lot.
-
For me that feature alone makes this camera just killer for faces and portraits.
-
They starting that off with the a6400, but now if you're looking to upgrade from the 6,000 line, the a6500 line, a6400 to this camera, I highly, highly recommend it because of that Z battery. Trust, it is worth getting rid of all those other cameras just for the Z battery alone.
-
In fact, we like it so much that we went out and bought one.
-
I'm gonna say it really does feel like one of the most complete APS-C mirrorless cameras that I have shot on.
-
It's a great camera; don't let anyone else convince you otherwise. It is Sony's top of the line.
-
First of all, if you enjoy the form factor, the line of E-mount lenses, and the 4K HDR, then the Sony a6600 is a pretty good option, which saves you a bit of cash and also a bit of weight in your bag as well.
-
In this case, the pros definitely outweigh the cons, and always, here's my personal thoughts on those. Rating this camera as a whole is kind of a tough one for me.
-
[...] I feel like it's a great video camera. I feel like the majority of users need this camera and they're not going to need full frame or more expensive cameras.
-
[A] few weeks later, I did buy the a6600 and I absolutely love this camera.
-
[T]he rolling shutter issue, lack of a flash, and mediocre electronic viewfinder really made the Sony a6600 a less appealing option for its price range.
-
If you try to look for things that are wrong with it, then you'll find them, but if you just focused on shooting good pictures and videos, there's a lot more things on this camera that can help you rather than hold you back, so for that reason, I highly recommend it.
