- PetaPixel 7.5/10
It’s a good, capable, mid-priced lens and not much more or less than that.
-
So it looks like we have another excellent Sigma prime lens in their contemporary series to look at.
-
If you can stretch to the Sony, it’s worth spending the extra, but if your budget is tighter, the Sigma is more affordable while still delivering very respectable results.
-
The Sigma 20mm F2 DG DN | C looks and feels like a high-quality precision-engineered optic. [...] The image quality is excellent.
-
If you are looking for a small, light, well-built, affordable lens that has a wide aperture, performs well, and covers the 20mm focal length, the Sigma 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary Lens has your name on it.
-
The strong distortion and heavy vignette drag down an otherwise excellent optical performance. The lens is very sharp, has amazing contrast, and delivers excellent coma, flare, and chromatic aberration control.
-
If you can cope with that though, then it's a truly awesome piece of optical engineering that comes highly recommended.
-
The Sigma 20mm F2 DG DN is a a super-sharp, very well built, fast wide-angle prime lens that is pretty affordable, but ultimately it suffers from some significant image quality issues when compared to its main rival, the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G.
-
It combines intuitive handling with fast autofocus and impressive image quality, making it an ideal ultra-wide-angle lens for architectural interiors, sweeping landscapes, astrophotography and more besides.
-
The build quality of the Sigma 20mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary is well it's almost like an art lens.
-
My head hurts, so let's wrap it up this way: the Sigma 20mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary is an excellent lens.
-
I'm very impressed that I was able to shoot photos of night sky with this lens with so good quality.
-
Being that this lens is $699 plus tax here in the US, I will say it's a little bit on the pricey side, but I do believe that the overall performance and what you get from this lens is absolutely worth that price tag.
-
For me, this is the winner; I am a fan and I'm highly recommending it.
-
This lens really is special and that's why I am buying this one hopefully if Sigma will let me.
-
It is a well-built lens that is both compact and extremely sharp and comes in handy for a multitude of different applications if you're looking for just a little more than what you get at 24mm.
