Reviewer Consensus
Exceptional
The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Art provides exceptional sharpness and contrast for high-resolution cameras, making it a powerful choice for both macro and portrait photography. Although it lacks built-in optical stabilization and experiences some focus breathing, the lens remains a high-value, well-built alternative to more expensive native options.

The excellent performance of Sigma’s 105mm f2.8 DG DN Macro Art makes it a perfect match for high resolution full-frame mirrorless cameras with E-mount or L-mount.
-
Similar to the Tamron or Tokina counterpart it is basically as good as the much higher priced Micro-Nikkor (the classic one, not the VR). The build quality feels very good although the implementation of the Dual-Focus mechanism isn't really perfect.
-
Sigma’s Art lenses have a strong reputation and the this new macro slips right in, seeming a logical addition to the range bearing in mind the popularity of the older version.
-
I love reviewing great-performing lenses. There are no long, usually tedious and boring tangents of trying to qualify shortcomings that likely will prevent at least some from purchasing the lens.
-
I was consistently happy with the rich colors from the lens, finding them rich and contrasty without becoming garish or unnatural.

If you choose the new Sigma lens though, you really won't be disappointed; it's as spectacular as it is good value for money, and so it has to come highly recommended.
-

-
The Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art offers everything you want in a macro lens, including near-perfect optics, 1:1 reproduction, and a professional fit and finish.
-
I still wanted to make her pop off of this busy background and that's where the shallow depth of field comes into play, and I think this lens does a great job at that and you're looking at it right now.
-
At the end of the day, I absolutely love this lens. The optics on this lens are unbelievable, some of the best I've ever tested.
-

It's got great build quality, it's super sharp even when wide open, there aren't any major problems in terms of lens distortion or vignetting or fringing, which is really good.
-
This Sigma 105 f/2.8 macro is a very interesting lens, especially for Lumix users, because at the moment, like I said before, it's it's the only autofocus macro lens available for the L mount as far as I know.
