Canon and its engineers must be praised for constructing one of their finest L-series lenses, and for the way they’ve created one of the best, if not the best, rectilinear wideangle zooms ever made.

I preordered the 11-24 within minutes of the announcement and it is now a permanent part of my kit.

For a rectilinear rather than fisheye lens, this full-frame compatible zoom takes viewing angles to the extreme.

Sometimes a lens will be made that creates a new standard, takes things a step further, sets the bar for all others to follow, a truly exciting lens.

This Canon 11-24 is a spectacular lens. It's the best ultra-ultrawide lens I've ever used.
-
The lens is considerably better on FF than on APS-C apparently but there is really not a lot of reasons to buy it for APS-C.
-
The Canon EF 11-24mm F/4L is a truly magnificent lens for a landscape or architectural photographer.

Unique range of focal lengths combined with excellent optical quality, in a massive and hefty lens at a very non-trivial price.
