Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3 Personalizes Your Smartphone Photo Printing
Fujifilm has announced the launch of its Instax Mini Link 3 smartphone printer. Photographers can use the Mini Link 3 to print photos wirelessly from their smartphones, and an accompanying free app offers creative editing tools.
“Photography is all about expressing yourself,” says Bing Liem, division president of the Imaging Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “With Mini Link 3, users don’t just get a printer that prints images from their Smartphone; when used with the App, it also becomes a tool for creativity that allows users to customize images in imaginative ways as they make memories. Mini Link 3 allows you to do way more than print instant photos — it brings fun to life.”
The Mini Link 3 prints on Instax Mini instant film and users can certainly keep things simple with their prints. However, people can get creative when using the Instax Mini Link App. The Instax AiR Studio feature of the app lets users capture images using augmented reality (AR), which can be added to photos and prints as 3D AR effects. People can also add decorative imagery, like balloons, hearts, garlands, or even animated effects, although animations cannot be printed, of course. They can be shared on social media, however.
The Instax Mini Link App also allows users to create photo collages of up to six images. The app can capture two, four, or six images at three-second intervals, creating a photo booth-like experience. The series of images can also be turned into animations to share on social media.
One of the significant changes between the Mini Link 2 and the new Mini Link 3 is the printer’s design. While it still sports the same overall design, including the textured finish, the Mini Link 3 has bright pastel LEDs on the front panel to indicate printing status and battery level.
Concerning power, the printer can make about 100 Instax Mini instant photo prints per charge. Fujifilm says that wireless printing takes about 90 seconds per image. Users can select between two color modes: Instax-Rich for deep, more saturated colors and Instax-Natural for a more original look typical of an Instax photo. The Mini Link app’s filters and sliders can enhance and edit smartphone photos.
Alongside the Mini Link 3 smartphone printer, Fujifilm is also debuting a new Instax Mini Sprinkles instant film. This new instant film features a colorful border design that the company says resembles rainbow sprinkles. The new film will arrive in late August for $15.75 per 10-pack.
Pricing and Availability
The Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3 will also arrive later this month, priced at $99.95 ($129.99 CAD). The printer will come in Rose Pink, Clay White, and Sage Green colorways. Fujifilm Instax Mini instant film is sold separately.
