Not long after announcing its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, the company has celebrated its 10th anniversary in style, launching the OnePlus 12 in China.

While the global launch for the smartphone remains slated for “early 2024,” per OnePlus’ United States site, the Chinese site shows many more details about the new handheld.

As seen on The Verge, the OnePlus 12 sports an eye-catching design and the base model includes 12GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage. At least in China, a high-end model includes 24GB of RAM and a terabyte of storage capacity. It remains to be seen what configurations prospective buyers will have to choose from in other markets next year.

Alongside robust memory, the device promises 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, which is a welcome addition given that the otherwise excellent OnePlus 11 lacked wireless charging, as does the OnePlus Open. The Verge notes that if the OnePlus 11 is any indication, the OnePlus 12 will probably top out at 80W wired charging in the US.

As expected and shown in teasers, the collaboration between OnePlus and Hasselblad continues on the 12. The smartphone includes a three-camera rear array with a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 64-megapixel periscope camera with a 3x optical zoom, and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Per GSM Arena, the main camera is the same Sony LYTIA as debuted in the OnePlus Open, meaning that the OnePlus 12 has a 24mm f/1.7 lens and 1.12 µm pixels.

The OnePlus 12 has a curved 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate. The panel claims 4,500 nits peak brightness for HDR content, which is incredibly bright, and 1,600 nits luminance during more typical use.

The OnePlus 12 will ship in China in green, white, and black colorways and includes an IP65 dust- and water-resistant design. This is a small step up from the IP64 rating on the OnePlus 11 device, which correlates to a bit better protection against water ingress.

International customers won’t need to wait long to learn more about the OnePlus 12, which the company says it will reveal early next year. As always, precise features and specs may vary from region to region, but the Chinese launch gives customers elsewhere plenty of reason to be excited for the new flagship smartphone.
