Humorous Photo of Bride’s Veil Blowing Away Wins Wedding Contest
A groom helplessly chasing after his bride’s veil on a windy day has won the International Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 contest.
It was Dee Kampe’s first post-lockdown wedding and she expertly captured the spontaneous moment in Melbourne, Australia that saw her crowned the overall winner.
“We were setting up for portraits when a strong gust of wind unexpectedly took off with Liana’s veil,” she says.
“While Jono went racing after it, Liana, amused by the whole debacle laughed and embraced the situation for what it was. I instinctively began photographing and this frame was captured a few seconds into the veil’s escape.”
The runner-up was another amusing image taken by Matteo Lomonte of Italy who captured a little boy with his hands on a car window staring into the photographer’s lens which was busy capturing the bride and groom emerging from a wedding.
Over $3,000 in cash prizes were handed out between the winners as well as a host of photo accessories including $2,500 worth of Godox products.
It was the sixth International Wedding Photographer of the Year awards with entries pouring in from countries across the globe.
