Apple Fixes Camera Shaking Glitch on iPhone 14 Pro in iOS 16 Update
Apple has released an iOS 16 software update that fixes a bug that caused the camera on some new iPhone 14 Pro models to shake and make an audible grinding noise when using third-party apps.
Earlier this week, some users reported a bug that involved the iPhone 14 Pro camera’s image stabilization system in conjunction with some third-party apps software.
Affected users claimed that the rear camera physically vibrated making it impossible to use, or in some more serious cases, caused audible rattling or grinding when they were taking photos or videos in app including Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram.
On Thursday, Apple released the first major update to its new iOS 16 mobile operating system ahead of schedule. While the cause is still unclear, the iOS 16.0.2 update claims to fix the camera-shaking glitch, and a number of other bugs, which have become apparent since iOS 16 was released two weeks ago.
According to the update text that Apple sent to users, the iOS 16.0.2 release addresses the issue with the iPhone camera, which “may vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some third-party apps on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.”

The company also claims that the update should resolve a bug “where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced.” It also fixes the frequent permissions prompts that Apple users have been receiving when they tried to copy and paste content between apps.
The update should automatically be made available to all those with an Apple device that is capable of running iOS 16, and can be installed through the Settings app
Although Apple had not detailed what was causing the camera to shake, TechCrunch reports that the glitch appears to be a software issue only, as it is being fixed via the iOS update.
The camera-shaking problem did not appear to be widespread as PetaPixel was unable to replicate the error with its iPhone 14 Pro model. This was peculiar as all iPhones and associated firmware should at this point be the same — provided everyone is using the most current version of all the apps.
