Flickr Adds Photo Printing as a Core Feature

Flickr today announced that it’s bringing photo printing to all of its users, making it easy for anyone to order professional-grade prints directly from within Flickr on your phone or computer.

Developed in partnership with SmugMug, which acquired Flickr from Verizon in 2018, the printing system will allow digital photos to be turned into paper, metal, and canvas prints.

Here’s how it works: after logging into Flickr, you’ll now see a brand new Prints item in the upper navigation menu, alongside You and Explore. Then select Prints & Wall Art.

From there, you’ll be able to select the photo or photos you’d like to print, along with the sizes, styles, and finishes you’d like. Then check out your order via the cart and your prints will be on the way to your doorstep.

In addition to going through the Prints system, you’ll also find a new shopping cart icon when viewing photos through your Photostream. You can click this icon, select a print product you’d like, and add the item to your cart through this alternate method.

When you’re done adding photos to your cart, you can view your cart through the Prints menu and check out.

“We’re committed to making Flickr your be-all home for photography and this is just one more step to giving photographers better ways to let their photos live beyond the pixel,” Flickr says. “We are partnering with some of the best photo labs on the planet (Bay Photo, Loxley Colour, and White House Custom Color) to make sure that no matter what size or shape your print, you’re getting professional quality prints each and every time.”
