This Wooden Leica Helps You Crack Your Nuts

Check out this handmade wooden Leica camera replica. In addition to looking beautiful on your desk, it has a practical use as well: it’s a working nutcracker.

La Vida Leica announced the product back in January 2014 on behalf of Leica accessory maker Walter Pretorius of Walter Leica.

Each of the limited edition Leica nutcrackers was individually handcrafted out of solid rosewood and brass, and each of the red dots on the cameras was made from “extremely scarce” red ivory wood.

The nutcrackers were shipped with a certificate of authenticity signed by Pretorius, and each one came with a unique serial number as well.

Here’s a short video showing how the wooden camera functions as a nutcracker:

Pretorius was charging $160 for each made-to-order camera last year. They’re no longer in production, but maybe you’ll be able to find one on eBay sometime if you keep your eyes peeled.
