Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art Series Lens for Nikon Mount is Finally Shipping

Nikon users with a thing for exceptional third party lenses rejoice, because pre-orders for the super-sharp Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens are finally shipping.

According to one of our readers who tipped us off yesterday evening, and confirmed by a Nikon Rumors report from this morning, your impeccable, AF-capable and relatively affordable OTUS competitor shipped yesterday and will arrive at your door soon.

Of course, this only applies to those who have already pre-ordered, so if you want to make sure you’re on the list the next time a shipment goes out, head over to B&H and get yours by clicking here.

Already using since 17th May, really amazing lens. Image shot wide open with Nikon Df, sorry to say Df simply not enough pixel to resolve this lens.

Sigma must be over the moon about how much coverage this lens gets. I’ve been waiting for it’s announcement since I started shooting with their old 50mm, and even I’m over reading about it.
Maybe because it probably won’t get to in hands for at least 6 months…

Good luck, I have had my Canon version on backorder since the start of April with B&H, still no sign of it coming anytime soon. Contacted Sigma asking what the state of play is. They told me B&H gets the largest quantities and they are sending 15% of their backorder this week. Next batch won’t be until June. Just hoping I’m somewhere in that 15%, but have a feeling I might be in for a long wait.

Should rent a d800 (If you dont already have one) and shoot some portraits :) I really want to see the sharpness of 2.8 on this lens

Sigma has been making lenses that blows the Nikon model out of the water. This one of course, but also the 105mm Macro and the 16mm Full Frame Fisheye.
