This Telephoto Lens is Designed for iPad Photogs Who Aren’t Self Conscious
If you thought ordinary iPad photographers looked silly, wait till you spot someone in public with a telephoto lens strapped to the front (er… or back?) of their tablet. The iPad Telephoto Lens is a new external lens attachment for iPad users who would like to squeeze a little extra reach from their tablet camera.
The lens offers a 10x optical zoom when attached to a iPad 3 or iPad 4, and a 12x zoom when mounted to an iPad Mini. It has a manual focus ring for adjusting the focus — you’ll have to eyeball it, but it helps that you’ll be working with a massive tablet screen.
Don’t expect fantastic image quality from the glass, since it’s designed more for casual and fun snapshots rather than professional-quality photos. There is noticeable vignetting at the edges, which Photojojo says provides a “dreamy lo-fi look.”
The mounting mechanism between the lens and your iPad consists of a hard plastic connector that snaps onto your tablet. The lens can be unscrewed from the mount for storage when you’re not using it.
If you’re like your iPad photography to attract weird stares, pointing fingers, and snickers, you can pick up your own iPad Telephoto Lens on Photojojo for $25 (it also appears to be available from Amazon for $18).
