Photographer Reuben Wu has made a name for himself by pioneering the use of drones in illuminating landscape photos. For his latest project Light Storm, Wu's goal was to capture often-seen landscapes in a way people have never seen before.
Here's a new short film by NYC visual storyteller Tim Sessler. Titled "The Place Where," the "visual poem" was shot at an old cement mine and features nighttime scenes illuminated by a 1600W LED drone light.
"The Dying Of The Light" is a new 4.5-minute short film by photographer and aerial cinematographer Ian Montgomery, who recently took a powerful drone lighting rig out into the desert to see what he could capture.
Using drones to illuminate scenes and subjects using flashes and powerful LED lights is a new trend made possible by the emergence of affordable and intelligent consumer drones. Drone lighting is a technique that's taking off in the world photography. After seeing photographer Reuben Wu photos of landscapes at night that were lit using an LED-equipped drone, photographers Ryland West and Paul Heran were inspired to take the technique to a new level with a project titled Highlight.
