Android Port Makes Instagram Available to BlackBerry 10 Users

No official version of Instagram exists for BlackBerry 10; so while users might be able to adjust their photos to get the perfect shot, they haven't been able to share those shots with the 100M+ member Instagram community.

Fortunately for Instagram-loving BlackBerry users, that need has been (somewhat) filled by the folks at BerryThai. They got their hands on and released an Android port of the app to keep users happy until such a time as Instagram decides to show BlackBerry some love.

RIM Patents Phone Feature for Preventing the “Inconspicuous Use of Cameras”

When consumer electronic products have photographs leaked to the world prior to their official announcements, they're often blurry shots that appear to have been taken with a quick snap of a smartphone camera by some not-so-loyal employee or factory worker. Blackberry maker RIM wants to help companies who value privacy plug up these leaks, and has created a smartphone feature that is meant to make snapping stealthy shots a much more difficult thing to do.

RIM Bringing Built-In Photo Editing and Instagram-Like Filters to BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry doesn't get much attention from App developers these days, and as such many of the photo apps iOS and Android users take for granted are expected to be sadly absent when RIM's new mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10, makes it onto phones. Still, the upcoming operating system has already made some waves using Scalado rewind technology, and according to CrackBerry, there's a lot more photo goodness on the way from RIM in the form of a full suite of editing options and Instagram-like filters.

BlackBerry 10 Timeline Feature is Indeed Scalado Rewind Rebranded

A couple of days ago the world was wowed by the up and coming BlackBerry 10's new camera app. The app, demoed by RIM at BlackBerry World 2012, allowed you to select someone's face and scroll through frames captured before and after you hit the shutter button. If you thought the app looked familiar, you were right: it's actually a rebranded version of Scalado Rewind.

BlackBerry 10 Camera Features “Timeline Lens” that Captures Moments You Miss

The new BlackBerry 10 operating system was unveiled BlackBerry World 2012 today, and one of the amazing new features that wowed the crowd was the camera app. It features a seemingly-magical "timeline" lens that lets you rewind sections of photographs in order to recover moments that your fingers weren't fast enough to capture. Did your subject blink in the photo? No worries... simply rewind their face and you're good to go! Basically, the camera is constantly capturing frames as soon as the app is loaded, so there's always a small buffer of previous moments stored for you to recover.
