Huawei sub-brand Honor has launched the Honor 90 smartphone in Europe. The new phone is light on price but heavy on megapixels. The Honor 90 starts at €549, about $670, and sports a 200-megapixel main camera.

Samsung today unveiled its latest trio of flagship smartphones at its annual Unpacked event in San Francisco, led by the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and flanked by the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23.

Samsung has announced the ISOCELL HP3, a 200-megapixel image sensor that has 12% smaller pixels that can result in a 20% reduction in camera module area. It features what Samsung claims is the industry's smallest 0.56μm pixel.

Samsung's 200-megapixel smartphone sensor has not yet made its way into a consumer device but the company has already begun hyping what it can do by printing a massive 616 square meter (2,021 square feet) photo taken with it.

Samsung has been repeatedly linked with Olympus cameras, now known as OM Digital, in what was speculated to be a partnership in an upcoming smartphone. PetaPixel confirms this to be false.

Samsung announced the first-even 200-megapixel HP1 smartphone sensor in early September but has followed up that announcement with more detailed information that touts its benefits, including low light performance and incredible detail.

Samsung made waves with its Galaxy S21 smartphone launched last year thanks to notable improvements to its camera system. Multiple rumors have speculated the smartphone manufacturer would partner with Olympus in the S22 Ultra, and a new render of what that might look like has renewed that speculation.
