That said, the device lacks a dedicated telephoto camera, S Pen support, and a traditional hinge-based Flex Mode, which may alienate power users accustomed to earlier Fold iterations.

[I]f you can find the right audience who obviously has money to spend, but wants something that genuinely feels new, like really feels new, then you might just have something.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a bit of a curio from Samsung. Having forged the way with narrower book-style foldables, suddenly offering a squat, passport-shaped version seems like an odd step.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a peek into the future of foldables, of that I’m certainly convinced.
-
This is the future of large format foldables, as I see it. And maybe it's what they should have been from the beginning.
-
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a turning point for Samsung’s foldable line. By moving away from the productivity-first formula of previous Fold models, Samsung has made a book-style foldable that’s lighter, easier to handle, and far more enjoyable to use day-to-day.
-
If you don't have such high performance demands, and you're just looking for a compact phone that can extend to give you a big screen experience, you will almost certainly fall in love with this device.
-
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 sets a new standard for book-style foldables by pairing a squatter, video-friendly inner display with excellent battery life, quick performance, and genuinely helpful AI features, making it the foldable to beat.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a shot in the arm for the foldables market. Samsung has adapted familiar elements to make a phone that's ready to fit your lifestyle with its practical size, excellent screens, and plenty of software and performance potential.
-
[...] I’m a big fan of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It’s the foldable design I’d rather carry and use every day over any other foldable.
- Digital Trends 8/10
The pitch is pretty straightforward with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. If you want a refined, pocketable book-style foldable, this is the one I’d steer you toward first.
- CNET 8.6/10
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a satisfyingly compact yet versatile foldable phone that’s great for endless scrolling, binge watching and web surfing.
-
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 combines the utility of a book-style foldable with the pocketability of a flip phone to create what may be the ultimate foldable form factor.
- Android Police 9/10
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 may seem like just a different shaped folding phone, but it transforms the way you use it. The excellent hinge encourages you to open the phone and enjoy the big screen, which is ideal for video and reading.
- PhoneArena 7.4/10
Again, an easy yes from me. This form factor just feels more natural, be it for videos, photos, gaming or reading.
-
Recommending foldables is still quite difficult for me. Most people take one look at the price and say “never mind,” and I totally get that.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is one of those devices whose appeal hinges largely on whether its unusual proportions speak to you.
-
No doubt you've heard about this phone, and I'm going to say that I really like it.
-
I think the Fold 8 is arguably one of the coolest things to come to the tech space in a really long time. I applaud Samsung for taking the shot. But is this something that I would reach for every single day?
-
Do I like the Galaxy Fold 8? The quick answer is yes. Would I recommend it?
-
Much as the Galaxy Z Fold 8's passport-sized form could have proved a floundering move for Samsung, it's opened new borders – and represents the future of foldables.
-
I wish I could wholeheartedly recommend the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The design is refreshing and functional, and given an even playing field in every other regard, I’d choose this form over the traditional tall and skinny foldable any day of the week.
- How-To Geek 8/10
It's an excellent device that I'm drawn to every day, and might just expand the audience for the Z Fold series. I'm just worried that its intended audience isn't ready to pay the high price for what they get.
-
The Z Fold 8 is a truly exciting phone that feels different from anything I have used before.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is Samsung's best version of a book-style foldable phone yet, even with its premium price.
-
If your usage involves reading, watching videos, and browsing the web – and you have the budget for it — the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the best folding phone out there right now.
-
This passport-style foldable has a huge inner display that lets you do so much more with your phone. It's held back by its 50MP main camera, which suffers in comparison to Pro and Ultra-level phones.
-
If you want a pocketable tablet for reading and multi-tasking, and you're willing to give up optical zoom and stylus support to get it, the Z Fold 8 delivers.
-
I think the Samsung Z Fold 8 specifically really checks off all the boxes for what you need in a phone, and then it comes to the woo, incredible form factor. So, I've been able to use this for about a month now. I love every bit of it.
-
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is easily my favorite foldable phone yet. It takes all the usual perks of these things [...] and [...] distills them into a package that finally feels just right whether you’re using it as a 5.5-inch handset or a 7.6-inch tablet.
-
[T]he new design, the new form factor, absolutely an upgrade over the regular Z folds.
-
[T]his is got to be my favorite foldable to date.
-
That is my favorite feature.
- Mark Ellis Reviews 9/10
The Fold 8 weighs 201g, features a 5.5″ cover display and a 7.6″ internal display, runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and packs a 4,800mAh silicon carbon battery with 45W wired and 20W wireless charging support.
- Business Standard 9/10
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Zfold 8? Well, if you've ever been curious about foldables, this phone absolutely nails the hardware and the experience.
-
Everything is just generally fast and smooth. I highly recommend it.
-
This is the best foldable phone Samsung has ever made, and it might just be one of the best foldable phones on the market.
-
The Galaxy Z Fold8 or Z Fold8 is an interesting device and easily my favorite device in a really long time. I've really enjoyed using it and I'm going to be holding on to this as my main foldable device.
-
The thing about this phone is that it's captured my attention and captivated it even. It's not perfect, but those imperfections almost don't matter because of how fun this thing is to use.
-
The Fold 8 has actually made me excited about foldables again. So, if you've been sitting there wondering whether you should buy one, I think most people who choose this phone are going to have a really good time with it.
-
If cameras are your top priority, get the Ultra. But if you want the foldable that's simply more enjoyable to live with every single day, I genuinely think Samsung got it right with the Fold 8.
-
It doesn’t serve everyone, but it does serve a purpose.
-
[T]he fact of the matter is that I do enjoy this device quite a bit.
-
Aside from that, I really do love this phone. Samsung did a really good job with the Galaxy Zfold 8.
-
[S]amsung's just played their cards so well with this phone.
-
We are here with the Galaxy ZFold 8, but it is the shorter squared off passport style form factor. [...] Man, they [...] nailed it.
-
If your priority is productivity, the Fold 8 Ultra is still the one I'd recommend. But if your priority is media consumption, portability, and simply enjoying the experience of using a foldable phone every day, I think the Fold 8 is the sweet spot for most people.
-
It's a very good phone that a lot of people should buy.
-
[I] thought I wouldn't like the new shape at first, but it is surprisingly versatile.
-
The unfortunate reality is that there is no world where I can reasonably assert that this smartphone is worth buying. Not at its current price point.
-
On paper, there are absolutely other foldables out there that make way more sense. But sometimes, emphasis on sometimes. Purchases don't have to be practical. Simply wanting it is all you need.
-
The Fold 8 isn't Samsung's most ultra phone, but I do think it's their most practical one. And eight generations in, I think it's incredibly hard to argue how much of a better phone this is for most people than the Folds have ever been before.
-
I think Samsung's killed it here, and I think it's going to be interesting to see how the iPhone Fold performs with this.
-
Do I think it is the best phone of 2026 so far? You got to savor the flavor.
-
Now, I really enjoyed testing this phone. I loved taking photos on it. Typing on it was great. I also enjoyed using it as a full screen to watch content and scroll on reels or even watch YouTube videos.
-
Honestly, this is one of the most enjoyable phones I've ever used because, as you can tell, I have a a tiny screen here.
-
Even with all of that, the one thing I do appreciate the most about this phone is that it doesn't force anything on you. You can turn this into a real productivity machine if you want, but you don't have to.
-
[T]his is a phone that I loved using, but for $2,000, I'm sorry, but there are better options out there.
-
[...] I've been really very happy with my experience, and I can say that I'm going to keep this phone.
-
A month later, I notice the flaws more than ever and somehow I like the phone even more.
