Apple’s answer to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, Creator Studio, has received what Apple calls its most exciting update yet. There are major improvements across the board, including to Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro.
Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad is a popular choice among video editors, including pros, and the new updates promise to make it even more capable. Final Cut Pro for Mac now integrates MotionVFX directly into the app, giving editors access to a wide range of templates, elements, graphics, titles, transitions, and more. It also adds new integrated tools for rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading.

The updated Final Cut Pro also now features direct access to Apple’s Content Hub, a collection of curated stock videos, photos, and backgrounds. It also promises improved cross-app communication for multimedia workflows. Editors can open any image from their timeline directly inside Pixelmator Pro now, edit it to their needs, and then save the changes back inside Final Cut Pro automatically without any manual file transfers. This round-tripping with Pixelmator Pro is great news for hybrid creators.

Speaking of Pixelmator Pro, it just got a major update: Generate Fill. This powerful tool lets users edit images with text prompts. Users can circle an area in their image, describe what they want to change, and Pixelmator Pro does the rest. It also works with Pixelmator Pro’s existing selection tools, like Free Selection, Quick Selection, and Magnetic Selection. Apple says Generate Fill automatically matches the surrounding area’s lighting, perspective, and texture. Super Resolution ensures that generated pixels are sharp, even on large files.

Logic Pro for Mac and iPad adds new tools for beat making, songwriting, mixing, and production. There’s also a new Liquid Glass user interface. Apple’s AI works alongside OpenAI’s AI to help Logic Pro users find the perfect beat for their project and tag files across an entire collection.

“This is our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio. MotionVFX content in Final Cut Pro gives subscribers rapid access to extensive professional video effects and content, bringing incredible value to the suite,” explains Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud.
“Logic Pro’s new Browser allows users to explore and experiment with more sounds than ever as they create music. Pixelmator Pro’s sophisticated fill capabilities now let users completely reimagine any part of an image. And the assistant capabilities in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are going to change the game for how people interact with and learn to use these apps.”
Apple will make Apple Creator Studio updates available through the App Store this November as a free update for all existing subscribers. Apple Creator Studio is free to try, then $12.99 per month or $129 annually for new subscribers. Students and educators can get Apple Creator Studio for as little as $2.99 per month or $29.99 a year.
