Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 19 Includes Over 100 Feature Upgrades

A MacBook Pro with video editing software open on the screen, showing a timeline and a preview of a person sitting on a pier by a lake with mountains in the background. Two white speakers flank the laptop on a white desk near a window with greenery outside.

Blackmagic announced the final release of DaVinci Resolve 19, the latest version of the popular video editing platform.

The final release (called as such because it has been available in beta before this) includes the free version of DaVinci Resolve, Resolve Studio (which costs $295 for a license), and Fusion Studio 19 (which also costs $295). The free version of Resolve has all the same power and processing capability as Resolve Studio and can handle an unlimited number of media files, although it is limited in some ways including to exporting at 4K Ultra HD 4K resolutions or lower — typically more than enough for many editors.

“If you need features such as support for multiple GPUs, 4K output, motion blur effects, temporal and spatial noise reduction, multiple AI-based tools, HDR tools, camera tracker, voice isolation, multiple Resolve FX, 3D stereoscopic tools and remote rendering, please upgrade to DaVinci Resolve 19 Studio,” Blackmagic says.

DaVinci Resolve 19 adds a long list of new features to the video editor including new Neural Engine AI tools, over 100 feature upgrades such as IntelliTrack AI, Ultra NR noise reduction, ColorSlice six vector grading, film look creator FX and multi source editing on the cut page. The entire list of updates is too comprehensive to post here, so those who want to see every new addition should reference the full release notes on Blackmagic’s website.

Beyond Resolve, Fusion received new USD tools and multipoly rotoscoping tools. Fairlight has new Fairlight AI audio panning to video, ducker track FX, and ambisonic surround sound. Blackmagic Cloud has been updated with new features that make it easy to use for large companies with multiple users collaborating on the same project at the same time.

“With this update, editors can work directly with transcribed audio to find speakers and edit timeline clips. Colorists can produce rich film like tones with the ColorSlice six vector palette and produce cinematic images using the new film look creator effect which emulates photometric film processes,” Blackmagic says.

“In Fairlight, the IntelliTrack AI can be used to track motion and automatically pan audio. VFX artists in Fusion have an expanded set of USD tools plus a new multipoly rotoscoping tool which displays all of your masks in a single list. The cut page has new broadcast replay tools for live multi camera broadcast editing, playout and replay with speed control. There’s also support for live sync with Blackmagic Cloud which uploads media into a DaVinci Resolve bin while the camera is recording so editors and colorists can start working even while the camera is rolling.”

DaVinci Resolve 19 can be downloaded starting today from Blackmagic’s website for macOS, Linus, Windows x86, and Windows ARM.
