Tilta Introduces Affordable New Tabletop and Travel Video Tripods

Two cameras mounted on tripods stand in a desert landscape with sand dunes in the background. The cameras are set up at different distances, capturing the arid scenery under a clear sky.

Tilta is releasing two new tripods designed for photographers and videographers on the go.

Launching only a few months after its first tripod release, Tilta is expanding its tripod offerings with two new models — the Tilta VT05 carbon fiber travel video tripod, and the Tilta BT03 tabletop tripod.

The Tilta VT05 is a carbon fiber model designed for travel, so it’s similar in design and function to other lightweight carbon fiber travel models out there. However, this one is specifically designed for videographers.

The tripod comes with a fluid head system that allows for steady and dampened tilts and pans. It also uses an Arca Swiss tripod mount for videographers who typically keep their cameras in cages with built-in Arca plates.

Its minimum height is only 23 centimeters (nine inches), which will allow for steady low-angle shots during a trip; and the legs and center column can extend to 160 centimeters (63 inches). It’s a modest range that should cover the needs of the videographer on the go.

The BT03 tabletop tripod is significantly smaller, topping out at 55.5 centimeters (22 inches). As a photography-first tripod, this one comes with a ball-head equipped with an Arca Swiss plate, more suitable for a smartphone or lightweight mirrorless camera than a heavily-rigged body.

Additionally, the BT03 also comes in an extended “BT03E” model, which includes an additional center column that can extend further for more height. Doing so always sacrifices stability, but it could come in handy in a pinch depending on the situation.

The BT03 is small enough to carry handheld.

Tilta has previously released accessories for filmmakers and iPhone shooters. The Khronos Ecosystem of accessories, which launched earlier this year, includes a cinema cage for iPhone with integrated circuits for lights, a cooling fan, lens filters, and USB-C and HDMI passthrough. Tilta lately has been producing various accessories that include electronics. Last year, Tilta released a camera cage grip that houses a 50Wh rechargeable battery.

Both Tilta tripods are available to buy now on the Tilta website. The VT05 goes for $299, available in Space Grey and Forest Green. The BT03 costs only $89 at the moment, and comes in the same color ways, along with a Snow White version.
