The children of wealthy people often flaunt their opulence through Instagram photos, spawning a popular blog called Rich Kids of Instagram. Now those Instagram users have an exclusive photo sharing app designed for them as well. It’s aptly named Rich Kids, and it costs a whopping $1,000 per month to share photos through the service.

Signing up for the service is free using your Facebook account, but you’ll need to pay the rich kid membership fee if you’d like to broadcast photos of your lavish lifestyle to the world.

The goal of the app is to be a status symbol in and of itself: while some non-wealthy Instagram users have attracted huge followings by sharing photos of faked wealthy lives, Rich Kids overcomes that issue by being pay-to-play.

“We created something different,” the app’s mission statement says. “A new social network where our members can really stand out and be visible in an elegant and meaningful way.”

“Share their life with other users and build a true fan base. Only members of Rich Kids can share photos. To become a member user has to subscribe to Rich Kids Membership. To ensure the quality and exclusivity of our members the membership is set to be $1,000 per month.”

At least some of the revenue may be going to a good cause, CEO Juraj Ivan tells The Next Web. He says that a third of the membership fees will be used for the “education of poor kids.”

The Daily Mail has published a list of wealthy young people already using the app, including a Ukrainian heiress and the son of a legendary fashion designer.

If you’d like to gawk (and perhaps gag) at the photos shared through the service, you can download the free app from the iTunes App Store.
