Awesome, I’ve been putting off buying Lightroom because I knew a new version had to be coming out fairly soon.  Hopefully the fact that the beta expires at the end of March is a sign that the final version will be released by then.

    Important points to note:

Develop settings applied in Lightroom 4 beta are not guaranteed to transfer correctly to the final version of Lightroom 4

Lightroom 4 beta will not upgrade Lightroom 1.x, Lightroom 2.x or Lightroom 3.x catalogs. The beta is intended to be used for testing and feedback purposes. Lightroom 1.x, 2.x, 3.x and 4 beta libraries will be able to be migrated to the finished version of Lightroom 4.

Lightroom is the best photography software i have ever used. i have been using it since version 1  and by the time version 3 came along, 80% of my photoshop usage had been replaced with this brilliant piece of software. Although i only use the view and devlop modules it does almost all of my photo browsing, management and editing, now only heavy retouching, or complex visual effects making it into photoshop.

“now only heavy retouching, or complex visual effects making it into photoshop.”

And that sounds like a great workflow. Each piece of software being used for what it is strongest at.

FREE? Do you how much developer hours, cost went into creating it??

So what’s new in LR 4 ? An address book to store commonly used email addresses ?? Elegant background graphics to enhance the style of travel or wedding books ???

So it seems the best photo software is areturning into bloatw, and still doesn’t offer facial recognition for quicker catalog management :(

This is just a beta, it will expire soon and you’ll have to buy the final version.
