This Photo Was Shot with a Real $2M Lamborghini Taken Apart

Swiss photographer Fabian Oefner has created an eye-popping new photo showing a 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV disintegrating with its individual components exploding in all directions. Here's what's crazy: Oefner actually photographed the $2 million car, spending nearly 2 years shooting and stitching the parts.

Milky Way Time-Lapse Captures Rare Glimpse of a Meteor Exploding in the Atmosphere

In mid-October, a meteor decided to explode in spectacular fashion in the night sky. Known as a 'bolide fireball,' a photographer named Ben Lewis was lucky enough to capture it and his video went viral the day after the event.

But he wasn't the only one with camera pointed towards sky, and for our money, we think photographer Wes Eisenhauer was fortunate enough to capture it better.

Awesome High-Speed Photos of Flowers Exploding

Martin Klimas is no stranger to capturing things as they're in the process of being smashed to bits. You might remember his series of photos showing porcelain figurines crashing against the ground we shared back in February of 2012.

His most recent series takes the same high-speed "explosion" approach, only the subject has changed from porcelain figures -- which by nature smash up fairly easily -- to flowers ... a significantly less brittle subject.

High-Speed Photos of Cameras Exploding

Last year we featured a CGI rendering of an exploding Polaroid One Step camera that makes for a nice wallpaper. Photographer Alan Sailer creates real photographs showing the same thing. Sailer drills a hole into each camera, fills the void with a firecracker, and then captures the resulting explosion with high-speed photography using a Nikon D90.

Epic Action Photos of Porcelain Figurines Shattering Against the Ground

For his project titled "Porcelain Figurines", photographer Martin Klimas dropped various porcelain figurines onto the ground from a height of 3 meters and set up a camera to capture photos triggered by the sound of the crash. The result are razor-sharp images of exploding figurines frozen in time -- "temporary sculptures made visible to the human eye by high-speed photography".

Abstract Photos of Faces That Resemble Exploding Fireworks

Photographer and makeup artist Nadia Wicker has a beautiful series of abstract photographs titled Ursides in which she captures self-portraits in which her face looks like exploding fireworks. While her method is secret, Wicker says that she uses her experience with makeup -- rather than Photoshop -- to create the photos.

Exploding Christmas Ornaments Filled with Various Things

Photographer Alan Sailer works out of his garage shooting things with a high-speed pellet rifle and photographing the results using a homemade flash unit. An interesting series of photographs he has, titled "The War Against Christmas", involves filling Christmas tree ornaments with various things and shooting them for unique explosions of texture and color. The photograph above shows an exploding ornament that was filled with washable kids tempera paint.
