- PetaPixel 7.5/10
The Tamron is a very compact lens with a 67mm filter diameter and easy-to-carry dimensions. It weighs only 575 grams, which makes it very similar in size and weight to the Sigma lens.

[T]he natural home of the Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III VXD G2 is more on ~30 megapixel cameras rather than 60+.

This lens features a nice design, compact size, light weight, VXD AF, and a reasonable price tag. It is an excellent choice for travel, covering family life, commuting, or just for a fun, burdenless lens to take everywhere.
-
The Sigma 20-200mm simply tries to do too much and, I believe, suffers for it. I appreciate the extra bit of width on the 25-200mm VXD, and, while it isn’t penalty free, I think that the compromises to get that extra 3mm on the wide end are more palatable.

[T]his is a comparatively good super zoom lens optically.
-
Fast forward to today, though, and we can now see extended ranges such as this very fine 25-200mm from Tamron. Sharper, faster focusing, closer focusing and even more versatile at a very reasonable price point.
-
So all in all, I think that the image quality is really impressive on this lens for $900.
-
[T]he Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III VXD G2 is a strong option for this focal range with a brighter aperture.
-
[T]his becomes the pinnacle of 30 plus years of innovation that brings us to a lens that’s going to give us sharp images. It’s going to be fast.
-
I would say congratulations to both Sigma and to Tamron. You have made some really great super zoom lenses that I think that 99.9% of all photographers out there will be very happy with.
-
Yeah, I'd recommend it for a travel option definitely.
