Strong
The Sony FX2 is a capable hybrid camera that integrates a high-resolution 33-megapixel sensor and a useful tilting electronic viewfinder into a cinema-style body. While it offers excellent autofocus and active cooling for long recording sessions, it is limited by a 1.5x crop when shooting 4K 60fps and lacks some advanced video features found in competitors.

- PetaPixel 7.5/10
If you’re a Sony shooter and rolling shutter won’t be a concern for the type of work you do, you should absolutely buy the FX2.
-
I guess it's just hard to get too excited about a camera that I sort of already own, but I can say that if I had the choice between this camera and an a7 IV today, I would choose this one without hesitation.
-
[T]his camera is definitely unique in its own way.
-
[T]he FX2 is a fantastic camera that gives you a ton of versatility if you don't want to rig it up too much.
-
The Sony FX2 is a capable entry to the Cinema Line, with excellent oversampled 4K, active cooling, and superb autofocus alongside a useful tilting EVF.
-
The Sony FX2 is a great camera that can capture some really nice images and it is a joy to use with its viewfinder and typical Sony operation, but given how feature-rich their competitor's options have become, I did expect some larger additions or improvements.
-
[I]t was just a missed opportunity from Sony not using that partially stacked sensor for video.
- Photography News 92/100
The FX2 is more capable for stills than the FX3/FX30, although less optimised for extreme video-only use, but some Sony-based creators may find this balance compelling. The tilting EVF is a great addition for stills and video work.
-
[T]he Sony FX2 is definitely worth a serious look.
-
If you’re a true hybrid shooter, the FX2 is worth a look. If you already have an FX3 or FX30, don’t expect yourself to be totally green with envy.
-
It is a very solid good camera, but I don't think there's enough new here to really make a punchy impact on the market.
-
[T]here's no other way to put it.
-
I do feel like that's one of the things I did really enjoy about this camera is it felt to me like it's a really solid hybrid camera.
-
The camera itself, it's a very good camera.
-
There's definitely a place for this camera.
-
[I]t's a very capable camera to do pretty much anything from content creation to professional client work.
-
[T]echnically speaking, on paper, the Sony FX2 is a good camera with more than enough features for many creators.
-
It's not revolutionary. It's not replacing anything, but maybe it's the missing link that you didn't know you needed.
-
I think the FX2 is a solid camera and for me personally, it might be something I'll consider bringing with me when I am doing another one of these projects when I'm in bright sunlight and I want a viewfinder that I can stick up to my face like this.
-
I think the Sony FX2 is kind of the perfect camera, the perfect kind of mix of features for me as an individual creator.
-
The new camera should meet most needs of a hybrid shooter albeit with a slightly steeper learning curve because of the different placement of exposure controls for still images.
-
It's a slightly different kind of shooter to the FX3 and I think it makes a lot of sense depending on how you shoot what's important to you.
-
The FX2 gives you full-frame quality, a tilting EVF, and AI-enhanced autofocus in a refined cinema body. If you can live with the 4K 60fps crop, this is a powerhouse of a camera for the price.
