The Nikon Nikkor Z DX 24mm f/1.7 is a compact, lightweight prime lens that provides an effective 36mm focal length for Nikon Z DX cameras. While it offers excellent sharpness and a bright aperture for low-light shooting, some users find the corner performance and lack of optical stabilization to be notable drawbacks.

What the Reviewers Say

All 10 expert reviews, weighted into the PixelMeter score.

  • Amateur Photographer

It’s taken a while for Nikon to start producing anything other than basic kit lenses specifically for the DX format, so it’s good to see a prime lens launched which caters to this market.

To sum up this whole review, I need only repeat that previous statement about competitors: Nikon did a perfect job of filling a niche need in the APSC lens market.

  • Z System User

[T]he 24mm f/1.7 DX is a very good lens, particularly for close-to-mid distances as opposed to infinity distances. Unfortunately, it’s not quite strong enough a performer for me to give it a straight out recommendation.

With its compact and lightweight construction, and an ‘effective’ 36mm focal length in full-frame terms, this lens is the perfect companion to any Nikon Z DX camera body, ideal for street photography and walkabout shooting.

If you are looking for, once again, a street photography lens, just a nice casual travel lens, this is a really great option to have. It really kind of threads a lot of needles.
