What the Reviewers Say

All 42 expert reviews, weighted into the PixelMeter score.

  • PetaPixel 7.5/10

The Insta360 One RS is not going to match toe-to-toe with the image quality coming from a larger-sensor camera, but I still keep returning to using it repeatedly.

The ONE RS 1-inch 360 Edition from Insta360 captures everything around it for immersive photos or videos you can explore in headsets or scroll-around on normal screens, but what makes it stand out compared to most consumer 360 cameras are larger 1in sensors.

  • If you are in the market for the most compact solution that can do both regular and 360 videos, the ONE RS might be a good choice.

  • The Verge 7/10

Because of its larger sensor, heavier weight, and polished app experience, the ONE RS 1-inch 360 edition feels like a breath of fresh air in a rather stagnant consumer 360 camera market. But unlike its predecessors, it is not an action camera.

We're not totally sold on its assembly-required modular design, but it's an appealing GoPro alternative, especially for creators who want to use both 16:9 and 360-degree footage for projects.

Its appeal may be niche, but the Insta360 One RS 1-inch 360 Edition is an impressive camera. If you happen to be one of those who can take advantage of the improvements, and can stomach the cost, we don't doubt you'll be pleased with the results.

The Insta360 One RS' flexible modular design is loads of fun (if slightly fiddly). The new 4K boost lens delivers excellent quality video, and alongside the existing 360 lens module offers a well-rounded action camera package that delivers on all fronts.

Despite the niggles, the Insta360 One RS is a significant upgrade on its predecessor, combining plenty of new features and improved image quality with a redesign that genuinely improves usability.

Most of all, it’s easy (small screen aside) and fun to use, particularly when paired with Insta360’s selfie stick or a creatively placed mount.

Apart from my minor niggles, the ONE RS is an extremely capable action camera and a very credible alternative to the competition.

Much like its predecessor the Insta360 One RS is a jack of all trades. The modular nature allows you to get three cameras in a single device, albeit for quite a high price.

The Insta360 is a camera that rivals those from bigger brands in terms of quality, reliability, and ease of use. For those who just want to ride and get a watchable video in the end, the Insta360 One RS 360° lens is a good choice.

At the end of the day, this is an impressive 360 camera. You have to hand it to Insta360 for producing something that is really pretty revolutionary, so that is my review of this new 360 camera.

In my humble opinion, for most people, unless you're slow motion addicts like I am, this action camera is going to be a great fit. It's going to deliver amazing quality which probably is going to exceed by far your expectations.

It's a pretty good action camera, it's better than a lot of the other non-GoPro action cameras that are out there in my opinion, but I think that at the price point, it's 300 is kind of like the bare bones, just the RS, the brains, the battery and the action camera module.

  • It’s an uncomfortable truth but, for most recreational action cam users, the footage generally comes out looking just a little bit, well, meh. However, Insta360 have struck a great balance with the new One RS action cam.

If you’re comparing 16:9 footage, the Insta360RS doesn’t have the specs to compete with the GoPro’s latest and greatest; at 4K and 30fps, it’s unable to keep up with 5.3K of the HERO10.
