It's never going to be anyone's main lens, but when the job calls for something a little different, it's a useful weapon in the armory.

Fisheye lenses are often primes, meaning that you only get one focal length. Having a fisheye zoom means you can either go for a full circular image, or an image that covers the whole frame in one lens.

  • Embrace this lens's extreme fisheye barrel distortion to exaggerate a close, centered subject and minimize a vast background for a radical, dramatic look that differentiates your work.

The lens is certainly expensive, but it's very high quality and an absolute blast to use. So, if this is the kind of optic you're on the market for and you think you'll use it enough to get value for money out of it, then it does come highly recommended.

If you've needed a circular fisheye and you want a fisheye, but you can't afford some of these and you just want to use it sparingly, I'm sure that LA is going to be fine as a manual lens.
