SmallRig announced a new lightweight case for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max that includes a built-in hidden stand, works with MagSafe accessories and wireless charging, and includes the attachment points necessary to use optical accessories with the new phone, including various lenses and filters to enhance photo and video features.

The case supports the iPhone 17 Pro’s redesigned camera bar, or “forged plateau” as Apple calls it, and works with the phone’s Camera Control button, which has been carried forward from last year’s iPhone 16 Pro.

The new case comes standard with a T-mount backplate and a 17mm threaded lens backplate for external lens mounting, too. This T-mount can be replaced with a 67mm magnetic filter adapter as well.

As for its optical ecosystem, SmallRig makes variable neutral density (ND) and circular polarizers (CPL), alongside more specialized filters like effects filters and close-up filters. The filters attach magnetically to SmallRig’s Filter Adapter for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, which attaches directly to the company’s new case. It’s easy to remove when filters aren’t needed, ensuring the iPhone 17 Pro stays slim and easy to fit in your pocket.

SmallRig also unveiled the Cage Kit for the iPhone 17 Pro family. This cage attaches directly to the SmallRig iPhone 17 Pro case and adds new attachment points for various accessories and rigs.

A rugged smartphone case with adjustable side grips and two cylindrical handles attached, designed for enhanced stability and secure handling during filming or photography.

For example, users can attach SmallRig’s new dual handles to the side of the iPhone 17 Pro, which improves stability and allows filmmakers to attach items such as lights, grips, and audio equipment. The handles can also control the iPhone wirelessly, allowing users to stop and start recording without touching the screen or even remotely, from up to 10 meters away.

The case, filters, and cage help iPhone 17 Pro owners take full advantage of the phone’s robust video recording features, which now include ProRes RAW recording and open gate video. ProRes RAW open gate recording requires an external recording device, which can easily be attached to SmallRig’s new iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max cage.
