The New DJI Mic 2 Is a Sleek Wireless Mic System for Content Creation

DJI, primarily known for its drones, action cameras, and gimbals, has launched DJI Mic 2. DJI promises that the Mic 2 sets a new benchmark in audio recording solutions.

Equipped with omnidirectional recording capabilities and optimized for vocal clarity, the DJI Mic 2 is designed for content creators in various scenarios, including vlogging, doing interviews, and recording during outdoor adventures.

The pocket-sized mic features intelligent noise-canceling technology, which DJI says is a “game-changer” for users in urban areas and crowded spaces. The feature promises to reduce environmental noise, ensuring clear voice recording. As for wind, the mic has an included windscreen.

In the event of unexpected audio level spikes, DJI Mic 2 also includes a “Safety Track” feature. This setting allows users to record a second track at -6dB alongside the primary audio track, ensuring that there’s a safety net of sorts if an unwanted level spike occurs.

Beyond promising high-end audio performance, DJI Mic 2 also offers a sleek design and a user-friendly experience. The mic includes a premium metal charging case with a new locking latch, and as soon as users open the charging case, the DJI Mic 2 “will then spring to life,” per DJI, automatically pairing the receiver and transmitters. DJI Mic 2 can be easily used alongside DJI Osmo Action 4, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and smartphones via Bluetooth. It also connects to various devices through USB-C, Lightning adapters, and 3.5mm TRS analog.

DJI Mic 2’s receiver is operated via a 1.1-inch OLED touchscreen paired with a precision dial. Content creators adjust volume, gain, brightness, and more settings using this combination of screen and dial. The transmitters, or mics, which come in shadow black and pearl white colorways, feature magnetic attachment for quick concealment and include a clip-on design.

DJI Mic 2 also offers dual-channel recording, allowing content creators to simultaneously capture audio from two sources. Each transmitter includes 8GB of internal storage, saving up to 14 hours of uncompressed 48kHz 24-bit audio recording. The DJI Mic 2 also has 32-bit float internal recording, which promises high-quality recording, especially in complex sound environments.

What good is a wireless mic if it doesn’t have a good range? DJI Mic 2 promises a maximum audio transmission range of up to 250 meters (820 feet) in open environments with line-of-sight. DJI does not disclose transmission specifications in an obstructed environment.

“DJI Mic 2 represents a leap forward in audio recording technology. We’ve combined high-quality recording functions, user-friendly designs, and noteworthy stability to empower content creators with the tools they need to capture extraordinary audio, no matter where their creativity takes them,” says Paul Pan, Senior Product Line Manager at DJI.
