3 Legged Thing ‘Lexie’ Universal L-bracket Supports More Cameras

3 Legged Thing released a new universal L-bracket, Lexie, designed to work with a wide range of popular cameras from companies including Canon, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Nikon, OM System (Olympus), Panasonic, Pentax, and Sony. However, the British tripod company adds that Lexie will fit even more cameras.

Going further, 3 Legged Thing promises that Lexie “fits more cameras than any other universal L-bracket” on the market. The design lets photographers position the base forward or back on the camera, ensuring it fits many different models. The bracket also ships with a glass-reinforced nylon Peak Design Capture (v3) adapter and long pass-thru camera screw, meaning customers aren’t required to choose between different Lexie models. It is a “one-size-fits-all” approach. The only decision photographers face is what color to get, as Lexie is available in black, gray, and orange colorways.

Lexie has an adjustable/extendable base and is compatible with Arca-Swiss mounting and Peak Design Capture. The vertical orientation of the bracket includes a small cutout for cable management, which can be configured in four different positions using symmetrical slots on the bracket’s top and bottom. The bracket also sports a pair of 1/4″-20 screw threads to allow users to attach accessory arms, monitors, or lights. A camera strap slot is also featured in the base, ensuring that a photographer’s favorite strap is compatible with the base plate.

An L-bracket enables photographers to quickly swap from shooting in landscape and portrait orientation without adjusting their tripod head. Further, compared to a simple, small camera base plate, an L-bracket is more robust and promises improved stability.

The Lexie universal L-bracket joins prior 3 Legged Things’ brackets like the Ellie and Darkness models, although where Lexie separates itself is through its dual Arca-Swiss and Peak Design Capture compatibility and improved camera model support.

The Lexie also competes against universal brackets from other companies, including the Really Right Stuff MC-LS announced last month. The MC-LS is available now for $140.

“Universal L-brackets have been such a huge success for us that I really wanted to build on the modularity, and make it more functional, more compatible, and more essential for photographers of all levels. Lexie is an exciting technological step-forward in universal L-brackets, fitting more cameras than any other bracket that came before, and offering future compatibility with game-changing accessories,” explains Danny Lenihan, 3 Legged Thing founder and CEO.
