Nocs Provisions has launched a new, updated smartphone rig that will enable mobile photographers to capture high-quality images on their phones using attached binoculars or monoculars.

Designed for “most modern smartphones,” the Photo Rig Smartphone Adapter promises improved features and performance, including a new self-centering frame that ensures photographers can align their smartphone cameras to binoculars with ease.

The revised design also sports stiffer springs that help keep the smartphone more secure, promising crisper images. Nocs Provisions also says the frame is sturdy enough for one-handed use and that stepper grippers help prevent accidental button presses. The rig adapter can also be attached directly to a tripod, ensuring even more stability, especially for people using the adapter to spot long-distance animals.

“The Photo Rig Smartphone Adapter has been very popular with Nocs customers. It allows you to capture those special moments out there — wildlife, a friend out on a wave, landscapes or anything you want — and share them,” says Jackson Fox, Marketing Manager, Nocs Provisions. “We made significant upgrades to the new Photo Rig to complement all of our binocular and monocular models, and give people yet another creative outlet to enjoy as they explore the outdoors.”

Alongside broad smartphone compatibility, the Photo Rig Smartphone Adapter promises to work with a diverse range of binoculars and monoculars, not just those made by Nocs Provisions itself. The company says that any binoculars/monoculars with eyepiece diameters between 20 and 50 millimeters should work.

The Nocs Provisions Photo Rig Smartphone Adapter is available now for $35. To celebrate the launch, Nocs Provisions has also announced some significant discounts on various bundles through November 27, including a free Photo Rig with the purchase of a pair of binoculars with a tapestry strap or a monocular and wrist strap kit. Nocs Provisions’ entire library of optics is available on its website.

The ability to attach binoculars to a smartphone is nothing new, as evidenced by the Snapzoom back in 2013 when smartphones looked wildly different Still, Nocs Provisions’ latest release is one of the most elegant solutions yet. However, the achievable image quality will depend heavily upon the smartphone and binocular/monocular combination.
