Fujifilm to Unveil Mid-Range Fuji X-S10 with 26MP Sensor and IBIS: Report

Several reports indicate that Fujifilm is preparing to release a new mid-range X-series camera called the Fuji X-S10, which will boast a 26MP X-Trans sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilization and 4K video capability, all in a smaller and more compact body than the popular Fuji X-T4.

The camera has now been rumored and leaked through two different sources: first via Fuji Rumors and now confirmed by Nokishita. Both claim that the camera will feature a 26.1MP X-Trans 4 sensor, 5-axis IBIS with up to 6-stops of shake reduction, the X-Processor 4, 4K/30p and 1080/240p video capability, a 1.04M-dot fully-articulating LCD, and 18 different film simulations.

There’s also talk of a particularly “deep grip” on this camera—probably thanks to the added thickness of the IBIS unit—the ability to shoot RAW in Auto mode, and a price tag of around $1,000.

As Photo Rumors points out, it can be difficult to figure out where, exactly, this camera fits into Fujifilm’s X-series lineup. It’s clearly a step down from the flagship Fuji X-T4, but it’s also clearly a step up from the Fuji X-T30, which does not feature IBIS but seems to match the X-S10 in most other specs.

As such, the Fuji X-S10 feels like the logical successor to the X-T30… an X-T40 that has simply been re-named, given IBIS, and bestowed with a flippy screen to tempt people into buying a newer model instead of picking up a last-generation X-T3 for the same price.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out what exactly Fuji has in mind with this camera. According to both Fuji Rumors and Nokishita, Fuji intends to unveil the X-S10 on October 15th or 16th, depending on your time zone, giving us just over a week to speculate before this new X-Series camera is officially announced.
