COSYSPEED’s New Lens Pouches Help Support Young Mothers in the Poorest Country on Earth

German camera bag company COSYSPEED has created a new product that’s functional, stylish, and altruistic at the same time. The company has partnered with development organization Burundikids to create a new set of lens pouches that are helping to support young mothers in Burundi, the poorest country on Earth.

The project was launched earlier this month as a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, where COSYSPEED is hoping to raise a little over $11,000 and generate enough interest to turn this one-off project into the long-term production of what the brand has dubbed “the first photo accessories ‘Made in Africa.'”

“Burundi is the poorest country in the world with a gross domestic product of $660 per capita. But this is not an ‘aid project,’ we work on the principle of ‘service for consideration,'” reads the project’s description on Indiegogo. “When you buy COSYSPEED lens pouches, you get a high quality product and actively do development work. You are not just sending money, you are giving someone work and the opportunity to help her or himself. And that’s a win win situation for everyone!”

Here’s an overview of this project from COSYSPEED CEO Thomas Ludwig:

COSYSPEED and Burundikids have created three microfiber-lined lens pouches—small, medium, and large—and a microfiber cloth for this campaign. The cloth is the most affordable of the four products at just $4, while the small pouch will cost you $9, medium $10, and large $11. Or you can order the whole set with all three pouches and the microfiber cloth bundled together for $28.
