Multi-layer sensors and high-megapixel DSLRs aren’t the only cameras Canon is rumored to be working on in the “breaking the status quo” category. Already mentioned by Canon Hong Kong, a large-sensor, high-zoom PowerShot premium compact is being officially teased in a Canon Netherlands video.
The folks over at Canon Watch caught wind of the video yesterday, and though most of it goes about bragging on the G1 X Mark II and G7 X, there is a third, shrouded, ‘later model’ camera mentioned as well.
Listed under the moniker “Grote Zoom” (translated: Large Zoom), Canon Netherlands writes, “The new model in the Expert Compact range combines a large sensor and powerful zoom for superb pictures from afar.”
No further details are shared, but Canon Netherlands does have an email list for those who want to be notified when the camera launches… in Dutch. Those of you who don’t speak Dutch, on the other hand, just keep an eye on PetaPixel and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with any fresh announcements.
