Ulanzi got its start in 2015 and offers a broad range of accessories for photographers and videographers. That includes fog machines, camera cages, lights, cleaning kits, microphones, tripods, and more.

Ulanzi has designed its latest tripod specifically for videographers who require a rock-solid foundation that can be set up quickly. The Video Fast Heavy-Duty Tripod boasts a one-click lift feature, ensuring a rapid and effortless setup experience. It’s available in carbon fiber and aluminum builds, so users can select which better fits their needs and budget. PetaPixel Editor-in-Chief Jaron Schneider really enjoyed Ulanzi’s previous tripod, so we have high expectations for this one, too.

While the base provides stability, the video head is the star of the show. It utilizes a Manfrotto plate and quick-release design, so switching between handheld shooting and tripod use is just as straightforward as setting up the tripod. Additionally, the tripod head is hydraulic with a 75mm bowl mount for smooth and ultra-precise movements, which is a must for video applications.

Users will have access to plenty of adjustments on the new Ulanzi tripod. A dynamic balance rebound function allows users to quickly return to the horizontal state. There are six stops of incremental pan and tilt adjustment and 10 stops of counter balance adjustment. It offers constant tilt action, opening up the option to shoot at any angle. Additionally, there are multiple Arri location holes with several other ports for attaching other accessories and devices. The detachable handle is ideal for travel and storage and works well for right and left-handed users.

As the name says, this is a heavy-duty tripod with some heft. The carbon fiber version of the Ulanzi Video Fast Heavy-Duty Tripod weighs 2.7 kilograms (6 pounds) without a head and 4.9 kilograms (10.8 pounds) with the tripod head. The aluminum version weighs 3.1 kilograms (6.9 pounds) without the head and 5.3 kilograms (11.69 pounds) with the tripod head. That weight means it can hold a significant amount as well, with a 25-kilogram (55-pound) tripod load capacity and 10-kilogram (22-pound) ball head load capacity.

The Video Fast Heavy-Duty Tripod offers plenty of height, with the ability to extend up to 1.6 meters (5.2 feet) with head attached or 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) without. Going the other way, the minimum height is 0.78 meters (2.6 feet) with the head and 0.64 meters (2.1 feet) without. When folded up, it is 0.83 meters (2.7 feet) long.

Ulanzi’s new tripod will be available for purchase on March 25. Those who purchase early can take advantage of early bird pricing; from March 25 to April 8, the aluminum version will cost $399, while the carbon fiber version will cost $499. After April 8, the price goes up $100 for both versions.
