Here’s another video featuring SF photo shop Photobooth and its tintype portraits. Will and Norm of Tested talk to shop owner Michael Shindler, who goes in depth into how tintype photographs are created and the science behind the process.
Two weeks ago at the Bristol Festival of photography I went on a wet collodion glass plate printing course with photographer Michael Schaaf. It may have cost £100 for they say but it was well worth it! I wanted to do it for exactly the same reasons as Michael Shinsler states in the above video. It was strange listening to him for me. Obviously I’m not alone! Anyone else interested in learning should definitely give it a go.
When it comes to collodion the learning is best shared and done in a workshop environment because there are so many questions to be asked…..
