A 12mm full-frame equivalent lens isn't my idea of a versatile do-everything piece of kit, but Fujifilm really needs something like this to supplement the very expensive -- and heavy -- XR 8-16mm f/2.8 zoom. That is a great lens, but it's beyond many people's needs and budgets. Enter the Fujifilm 8mm f/3.5 prime.
In addition to the new X-S20 mirrorless camera, Fujifilm has expanded its X Series lens lineup with the new XF 8mm f/3.5 R WR ultra-wide angle prime lens.
Sony has just released the brand new FE 20mm f/1.8 G: a lightweight, high-performance, ultra-wide prime lens for full-frame Sony mirrorless cameras that the company has dubbed "the widest full-frame prime lens in E-mount lineup."
So far, Canon has released only two ultra-fast primes for the full-frame mirrorless RF-mount system: the 50mm f/1.2 and two versions of the 85mm f/1.2. But judging by a recent patent filing, Canon has at least a couple more f/1.2 lenses in the works, and is even toying with the idea of a 18mm f/1.0.
Earlier today, Samyang/Rokinon unveiled the new AF 14mm f/2.8 RF lens: a wide-angle prime that becomes the first third-party autofocus lens for Canon's full-frame mirrorless RF-Mount.
