While its vintage-style optical imperfections and lack of modern technical perfection may deter some, it remains a favorite for those seeking a fun, portable, and character-rich shooting experience.

If you've in the market for a tiny, fun, manual focus bokeh monster to carry around with you, photographer Nitsan Simantov would like to introduce you to his "favorite lens ever": The Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.4 MC.

Sharpness wide open is anything but great, corners never reach the quality of most other primes and many aberrations like Coma or Astigmatism and even distortion are not well corrected.
-
[I]f the bokeh is to your taste and you don't mind some post-processing of the vignetting/chromatic aberrations, the Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm F1.4 is a very compact, extremely well-built "classic 35mm" lens that's an affordable alternative to the other 35mm Sony FE [...]

Personally, I really like the lens, and have added it to my bag. I’ve really enjoyed shooting with it. If you like the look, it’s well worth a purchase.

I am someone who is actually going to be looking to buy a more affordable 35mm for my M9 soon and this lens is at the top of my list.
-
To me the Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 is like a mini Noctilux in that it is the imperfections and low light ability that attract me most of all.
-
This Voigtländer 35mm f/1.4 is a poor lens lens if you worry about technical performance. It's unsharp by LEICA standards and loaded with barrel distortion.
-
[T]he Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.4 MC is definitely staying on my camera, the quality and performance of that lens are what I was looking for:.
-
I think for what you're getting for the money, this is probably the best-valued M-mount lens that you can find.
-
This lens is a perfect, tiny, little, rangefinder lens.
-
My conclusion for this lens is that if we're just talking about manual lenses, this is by far my favorite. I love the tiny size and how fun it is to shoot with.
