Strong
The Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 provides Sony mirrorless users with a compact, affordable ultra-wide prime that delivers impressive center sharpness and 1:2 macro capabilities. That said, the lens relies heavily on in-camera software to correct significant barrel distortion and vignetting, while the autofocus performance is notably slow and audible.

The Tamron 20mm f2.8 offers a fairly unique proposition for owners of Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras.
- OpticalLimits 6/10
[T]he Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 is a good lens for a great price but it's not an obvious choice.
-
Again, as with its siblings, a lot of photographers are going to purchase the Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD Lens for its value proposition.
-
I think the sum of its parts make it recommendable to anyone who particularly loves the 20mm focal length; just don't expect miracles out of it.
-
Fortunately such serious slip-ups as monstous distortion, a very slow autofocus or huge vignetting, not especially sensitive to stopping down of the aperture, are recompensed by several serious assets.
-
The Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 is a superb ultra-wide lens at a highly attractive price.
-
The new Tamron 20mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 is a unique ultra-wide-angle lens for Sony shooters, but some notable optical issues prevent us from recommending it more highly.
-
If you’ve already got a 28-70mm or even a 24-70mm zoom lens for your full-frame Sony E-mount camera, and want something that gives a greater viewing angle without bulking up your kit or weighing you down, this Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 should prove the perfect fit.
-
The Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 lens is well made, affordable, and plenty sharp, but it doesn't offer lightning-fast autofocus.
-
Sharpness is absolutely fabulous for an entry tier ultra wide lens, and I've never felt like this Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 let me down in that regard.
-
[...] Tamron created a compelling product with the 20mm F2.8. [...] Thanks to its low price, it should be on the shortlist of anyone looking for a wide full frame prime for the E-mount.
-
It handled everything we threw at it, and it fits the form factor of our Alpha 7R IV like a glove.
-
I highly recommend this lens if you're on a tight budget, and even if you're not on a tight budget but you just want a wide angle lens and don't want to pay the earth for it.
