On the plus side, it is genuinely small and featherlight at just 58 g, so it will transform the portability of any L-mount camera.
-
Optically, it's all right, but it's a lens that will become known more for its quirky design decisions.
-
Ignoring obvious usability restrictions, I was actually quite surprised with Panasonic 26mm lens performance.
-
With this lens being a manual focus lens and has a fixed aperture, which means you cannot stop down the aperture at all, it does have a lot more limitations compared to a average autofocus lens.
-
The landscape picture profile looks nice, and the overall image quality out of this lens is okay.
-
So in conclusion, if you're looking for a lightweight, thin pancake lens fit on an L-mount camera, like a Leica L-mount, or a Sigma, or a Panasonic, these, you can't go wrong with it.
-
I think it's a fun lens to use, and so, if you are looking for an everyday carry lens for the new Lumix S9 or the Sigma fp, I would definitely check out the Lumix 26mm f/8.
-
I would suggest the 26 mm if you can get it free with the camera like I did.
