DJI Avata offers an accessible and highly immersive FPV flying experience, making it a strong choice for beginners who want to capture dynamic, stabilized 4K video. - PetaPixel 8/10
The DJI Avata is a fun little drone that can get great shots in all three flying modes.
- DPReview 4.5 stars out of 5
The DJI Avata takes inspiration from the FPV and cinewhoop worlds, so we were excited to take it for a spin and see what it could do. What we discovered is a beginner-friendly, fun-to-fly, stunt-capable model that has the potential to shoot eye-catching video.
-
The Avata is thoroughly confidence inspiring, both in design and experience.
-
The Avata is a noble attempt to bring high-speed drones to the mass market and I had loads of fun flying it. However, in light of the potential for danger and harm to your person or others, I'm hesitant to recommend it to the masses.
-
The DJI Avata is a better considered and more sedate entry to the world of FPV flying than its predecessor, but it falls into a space between camera drones and FPV hardware that might not satisfy either objective as effectively as more dedicated solutions.
-
There’s no question that the Avata is one of the best drones that’s incredibly nimble and fun to fly — which can be said for all of DJI’s drones.
-
It provides a highly accessible entry point to what was once a niche hobby with a high learning curve.
-
The Avata goes on sale today and costs $629 without the FPV headset or controller.
-
I found the Avata to be an absolute blast to fly. In my opinion, this is the easiest FPV Drone to get up and fly and be able to do so comfortably and confidently, inches from the ground, in minutes.
-
Ultimately the DJI AVATA is great fun and far faster and more agile than standard DJI drones. When coupled with the Goggles V2, which enables a drone eye view of the world, and the game-style Motion Controller, you do get a truly immersive drone experience.
-
If you would like to enjoy the ability to capture immersive FPV video footage, but don’t have the skills or desire to learn how to fly a traditional FPV drone, the DJI Avata and Motion Controller is a fantastic option.
-
At its core, the DJI Avata is a specialised filmmaking tool that excels when it comes to flying in tight spaces and around people. It won't be the right drone for everyone, but for those who need it, it's a bit of a gamechanger.
- SlashGear 8/10
Right now, the Avata is a game-changer and it's so incredibly fun and easy to fly, I'm giddy that I got a chance to play with it.
-
I’ve really, really enjoyed this drone, and I highly recommend it to anybody. Even if you don’t own a drone, you’re just going to be buying your first drone.
-
The DJI AVATA as a piece of immersive fun flight, though, is 100% something I’d fly over and over again.
-
Despite being fairly pricey, DJI’s Avata is a great FPV drone for newcomers. It’s inviting and allows really anybody to capture amazing footage.
-
If you’re new to the world of FPV drones, the DJI Avata provides the ideal entry point – as long as you can stomach the premium price tag that comes along with it.
-
If soaring through the air like a bird and seeing the world from lofty heights sounds great to you, then the DJI Avata is a great choice.
-
The DJI Avata is the new best FPV drone out there. It's not cheap, but it works great, is fun to fly, and has a pretty good battery life,.
-
In my opinion if FPV is something that you feel that you want to get into, I doubt that there's a better drone to get started with than with the DJI Avata. It is fun, it is portable, it's durable, and definitely gives you a lot of fly time.
- GadgetGuy 8.6/10
With a rugged design and a dead-simple piloting experience, the DJI Avata does a stellar job at bringing the thrills of FPV drones to the masses.
-
For a first attempt at a Cinewhoop, DJI was able to nail it with the Avata. Image quality with great stabilization, GPS, lightweight goggles with strong signal, the option to use two controllers, and even head tracking.
-
So the DJI Avata is a fantastic drone and I can still recommend it after using it for a year now, but bear in mind it screams a lot.
- Active-Traveller 9/10
[T]he Avata seamlessly integrates beginner-friendly features with the intricacies of FPV, providing a stable flight experience consistent with other DJI models.
