Reviewer Consensus
Mediocre
The Canon EOS Rebel T7 serves as an accessible, budget-friendly entry point for beginners, yet its dated specifications and limited performance features mean it struggles to keep pace with modern alternatives. While it produces sharp images and offers a comfortable, lightweight design, the camera lacks advanced tools like 4K video, reliable autofocus, or a flexible screen.

The Canon EOS 2000D / Rebel T7 provides one of the most affordable pathways to serious photography for beginners on a budget. Interchangeable lenses, a 24 Megapixel APSC sensor, an optical viewfinder and a good LCD screen don't come much cheaper than this.
-
There’s no doubt that the Canon EOS 2000D / Rebel T7 is a solid enough entry-level camera, yet there’s little about it that really stirs the senses. While it is an affordable entry point into the Canon EOS DSLR system, it provides only an incremental upgrade over the 1300D.
-
The Canon EOS Rebel T7 is as a lightweight entry-level DSLR with a solid feature set and great image quality, but its best feature is its very attractive price.
-
Focus and shot to shot times were both good, although the 3fps continuous shooting is looking a little dated, with competitors offering faster continuous shooting speeds.
-
The Nikon D3400 is our entry-level DSLR camera of choice, or failing that a discounted EOS 1300D if you can still find one, as the new Canon EOS 2000D offers virtually no new features or performance to justify its release.
-
It's not a bad camera, even though it lags some way behind the latest DSLRs and mirrorless cameras for specifications. It would be a fine camera for a beginner interested mainly in stills and wanting to learn the basics of photography at a minimum outlay.
-
Canon's EOS Rebel T7 SLR camera features an upgraded image sensor, but is still way behind the curve in other areas.
-
It's hard to get overly excited about the EOS Rebel T7 / EOS 2000D / EOS 1500D, with its modest specifications.
-
The combination of price, features and image quality make the Canon EOS Rebel T7 a solid option for both DSLR newcomers and more experienced users on a budget.
-
When it comes to entry-level DSLRs, Canon has always tended to deliver models that are easy to recommend. However, that’s not the case with the EOS 2000D.
-
This 4-year-old DSLR still delivers on its promise to be a versatile, capable camera for anyone, no matter their experience level.
-
The T7 is a small, light and inexpensive camera with great ergonomics, but with crappy autofocus and limited features.
-
I don't say this camera is bad. This camera is not bad.
-
[T]he Canon T7 can still take some awesome looking photos.
-
Should you get the Canon EOS Rebel T7 (2000D)? That depends on a few things.
-
It takes great photos and the bundle is the perfect entry point for my current skill level as a photographer.
- Coolblue 9.2/10
I think this device is suitable for both novice and advanced photographers. The camera is compact, and it only has a few buttons, so you can easily get started.
