The Instax Mini Evo 2 Has a Bigger Display and Expanded Field of View

Fujifilm has announced the Instax Mini Evo 2, which upgrades the rear LCD, adds a new “Expanded View” framing feature, and introduces an “Immersive Movie” option that captures up to four seconds before the photo is taken.
As a reminder, the Instax Evo line is Fujifilm’s hybrid digital and analog system which uses a digital sensor to capture content and a built-in printer to print those photos onto two-by-three-inch Instax instant film. Photographers can review and edit images digitally on the camera before pulling the physical print lever to output a tactile physical photo. In the case of the Instax Mini Evo 2, Fujifilm notes that the integrated printer delivers rich 600 dpi resolution for sharp output.

The upgrades are small, but they significantly enhance day-to-day usability. The rear LCD display has been expanded from three inches to 4.5 inches to make it far easier to compose a shot and navigate menus. The camera also simplifies shot composition via the new Expanded View feature. While it does not increase the actual field of view of the captured image, it displays a wider area beyond the frame edges. Fujifilm states this helps photographers view more of the surrounding environment to compose “with greater intention.”

Fujifilm also added a new Immersive Movie mode that records the four seconds leading up to each photo. A microSD card, which is not included with the camera, is required to utilize this video feature.
“The instax Evo line remains an incredibly popular part of the instax™ product family, so it made perfect sense to take everything about the original Evo that made it great and enhance it even further,” Bing Liem, division president, Imaging Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation, says. “Evo 2’s new features give creators even more options for both still photography and video, creating a meaningful, immersive creative experience.”
The camera retains the popular 10 lens effects and 10 film effects from the previous generation, allowing photographers to combine them for 100 distinct visual style combinations. Additional built-in features include a macro mode for close-up photography and a front-facing selfie mirror. The Instax Mini Evo 2 also provides adjustable exposure compensation, white balance presets, and flash controls operated via tactile, analog-inspired dials. For versatile shooting setups, the camera can also be controlled remotely via the companion Instax Mini Evo smartphone app.
