Thypoch’s 100mm T1.9 Lens Completes the Ultra-Affordable Simera-C Cine Prime Series

Thypoch has announced the Simera-C 100mm T1.9 Cine lens, completing the company’s seven-lens full-frame cinema prime lineup.
Before the new 100mm T1.9 arrived, the Simera-C lineup ended at 75mm, so cinematographers now have a new, longer telephoto prime to add to their kits. The lens comes in Sony E- and Leica M-Mount options. The lens has a 43.2-millimeter image circle that fully covers full-frame sensors.

The Thypoch Simera-C 100mm T1.9 lens features 11 elements arranged in eight groups, with a 16-bladed aperture diaphragm. Thypoch promises high-end optical quality with soft, natural bokeh, smooth transitions, and strong control over chromatic aberrations.
The Simera-C series utilizes an advanced vacuum coating and multi-layer, anti-reflective coating process to minimize reflections and suppress flare and ghosting. While some cinema lenses lean heavily into flare, Thypoch aims for a relatively clean image with accurate colors.

The company adds that its lenses are well-suited to high-resolution video cameras, including 8K resolution ones.
“This exceptional resolving power unlocks broader dynamic range and rich cinematic textures, significantly enhancing creative latitude and flexibility in post-production,” Thypoch says.
The manual focus lens focuses as close as 0.85 meters (two feet, 10 inches). Like the other six Simera-C lenses, it has 210 degrees of focus throw. It has unified focus and aperture ring controls, consistent with the rest of the series. However, it’s worth noting that the 100mm T1.9, like the 75mm T1.5, accepts 67mm filters. The rest of the series takes 62mm ones.
The Thypoch Simera-C 100mm T1.9 Cine lens is the same length as the 75mm T1.5 lens. It measures 86.4 millimeters (3.4 inches) in E-mount and 76.6 millimeters (3 inches) in M-Mount. The lens weighs 477 grams (16.8 ounces) in E-mount and 451 grams (15.9 ounces) in Leica M.
A big part of the Thypoch Simera-C’s appeal is that the lenses are relatively affordable in the full-frame cinema lens space. In a world where it’s not crazy for a single lens to cost well over $10,000, Thypoch is targeting a much more budget-friendly price bracket.

All the lenses, including the new 100mm T1.9, have an MSRP of $879 for E-mount and $959 for M. Some of the lenses are on sale right now for $699 as part of Thypoch’s very early Black Friday sale, but even $879 is an aggressive price for a cinema lens.
