Dockcase announced a new $79.99 MagSafe Solid State Drive enclosure for smartphone filmmakers that can connect to the back of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max magnetically and feed a USB cable along the back to unlock all of the recording modes the handheld offers.

The company says the Dockcase Smart Magsafe M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure has a lot of advanced features that meet and exceed the growing demand for efficient, portable, and high-capacity storage solutions for iPhone filmmakers. The device is designed specifically for 2230 and 2242 M.2 NVMe Solid State Drives (SSD) that can support up to two terabytes (2TB) of storage capacity with 10Gbps of data transfer speeds using USB 3.2 support.

Like other Dockcase Smart devices, the SSD enclosure also features a D-Key Control and display screen that leverages a single-click function to rotate between real-time information displays about what is going on in regards to the SSD’s health and data transfer and storage details, ensuring it is always performing at its best while providing accurate lifespan predictions for the drives.

The 59.3mm by 14.5mm (2.33 inches by 0.57 inches) aluminum alloy enclosure also features what Dockcase calls power-loss protection to help protect data stored on the device, keeping them intact even during an unplanned power interruption. It also has an “enhanced” read-only mode to prevent any accidental file deletions or modifications before they can be backed up properly. When connecting to a computer, the enclosure will support Windows (7/8.1/10/11), macOS 10.14.6 or later, iPadOS 12.4 or later, Linux, Android, ChromeOS, Harmony, and even Playstation 5 operating systems.

A circular electronic device partially encases a circuit board and various components, surrounded by a dark, smoky background. To the right, a disassembled rectangular component with intricate internal parts is visible.

Additionally, the company says the 53gram (excluding the SSD) enclosure can support 4K 60Hz ProRes recording and storage (compatible with the iPhone 15Pro and Pro Max) for up to 150 minutes. The enclosure features two USB-C ports: the data port which uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) and 90W PD passthrough and the power port featuring a max 100W PD 3.0 power in. According to the documentation provided on the enclosure, this will be able to simultaneously charge a device, keeping it powered while managing large files and data transfers without interruption.
