Videographer Robbed of Camera Gear After Being Tricked into Filming Fake Music Video

A New York videographer was robbed of $5,700 worth of camera equipment at knifepoint after being lured to film a fake music video at that location.

According to the New Rochelle Police Department, the unnamed 23-year-old videographer had been contacted via Instagram with an offer to film a music video at 45 May St. in the city of New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York this weekend.

But when the videographer arrived at the location after 22:30 on Saturday (August 24), he would soon discover that the music video was an elaborate plot to rob his camera gear.

After the videographer had set up his camera equipment for the fake music video, he was confronted by three men who threatened him with a knife.

The videographer was then robbed of his gear — which included two cameras and a lens worth $5,700 — by the three suspects who then fled the building.

According to the local news outlet Daily Voice, the videographer attempted to chase after the three men who had stolen his equipment but was unable to catch them, prompting him to call the police.

The responding cops sent the descriptions of the suspects over the police radio and a New Rochelle Police Department officer spotted two of the suspects nearby and stopped them. The victim positively identified the two men as being part of the three who robbed him.

In addition to the video equipment, the two suspects were found with multiple knives, brass knuckles, and a BB gun.

18-year-old Kyle Miller and 20-year-old Lonell Alexander, both of New Rochelle, were charged with felony first-degree robbery and misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

However, New Rochelle Police Department detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and are looking for the third suspect behind the camera robbery. Police are asking that anyone with information about the crime contact them at 914-654-2270.

Previously, PetaPixel reported on a case in which the New York Police Department were searching for a man who allegedly robbed multiple cameras worth thousands of dollars over two days in New York City’s Central Park in June. The NYPD released photos of the male suspect who they believe was involved in at least two camera thefts.
