Sirui’s New Tripod Is a Robust, Affordable Choice for Hybrid Creators

Two camera tripods are shown: the one on the left is tall, standing upright with three extended legs, and the one on the right is shorter with its legs spread widely apart and mounted on a horizontal slider for low-angle shots.

Sirui’s new $499 One-Step Height Adjustment Twin-Leg tripod kit is designed to meet the needs of high-end, professional videographers and photographers.

According to the company, the “Rapid System” SQ75 (Sirui Quick 75mm Bowl) + VHS10 (Video Head Sirui 10Kg Load) One-step height adjustment tripod kit was built to help creative professionals working on high-end productions. The tripod weighs five kilograms (11 pounds) and can support up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds).

The system includes a “Ground Spreader” (as well as an optional mid-level spreader) that increases stability and makes angle adjustments easier to manage and leverages a patented flip lock to make quick and easy height adjustments, extending or retracting tall the sections together all at once.

An adjustable tripod or stand with three foldable legs is shown. Next to it are three black, detachable bracket or clip attachments, each with a rectangular handle on top. The components are arranged on a white background.

The company says the side flip lock design provides a comfortable and smooth user experience while providing a strong locking force when closed to protect any equipment attached to the tripod system, making it an ideal system for both fixed position and “run and gun” shooting.

The VHS10 Professional Fluid Head accompanying the SQ75 Tripod is designed for a 75mm half-bowl mount (which can be used on any compatible tripod that can support a payload of 10Kg/22lbs) and is equipped with seven steps of counterbalance along with “3+0” pan and tilt damping adjustments which the company says will give users precise panning and tilting control for unparalleled smoothness even at minimum or maximum capacities. This even includes working in extreme weather conditions (-20 to 70 degrees Celsius), as the system also includes both horseshoe feet and dual metal spikes. The fluid head itself provides users with -65 to +90 degree adjustable tilting and even includes a luminous bubble level for low-light shooting.

The optional SV-FM central spreader and horseshoe accessories are designed for situations when shooting in an uneven environment, such as on stairs or ramps, when the fixed ground spreaders can’t be used. This “central” kit makes it possible to use the system without the inclusion of the ground spreader, allowing users to place the tripod in complicated settings.
