WhiteWall’s New Coffee Table Book Is a Beautiful Way to Show Your Photos

Years ago, German photo lab and printer WhiteWall began offering high-quality, custom photography books. While the product line persists in some locations, including Europe, photo books were removed from the American market. WhiteWall has brought photography books back to the U.S. in the form of the WhiteWall Coffee Table Book.

Available now with a 12-working day lead time, the WhiteWall Coffee Table Book promises to give “your photos the space to tell a story.” Further, WhiteWall is one of a small number of photo labs that use high-resolution inkjet printing on fine art paper for photo books, a distinction WhiteWall says “makes all the difference.”

Photographers can create their own books in numerous styles and sizes. There are three hardcover finishes: silk matte, glossy, or printed linen. The printed linen option is an all-new offering for WhiteWall. It’s three millimeters (0.11 inches) thick and promises the look and feel of a high-quality art book. Each of the three options comes at the same price.

Where costs change is when creators pick different sizes, formats, and book lengths. As WhiteWall says, “The larger the images can be presented, the more impressive the Coffee Table Book will be.”

There are six formats to choose from in total. For example, the Portfolio A3 format has 10.6 x 14 inch (portrait) and 15 x 11.4 inch (landscape) page sizes, while smaller Exhibition A4 (8.1 x 10.6 inches) and Story Square (8.1 x 8.1 inches) offer a smaller footprint. There’s also a Gallery Square (11.4 x 11.4 inches) option. The book is available from 28 to 200 pages in four-page increments.

There are also six premium papers to choose from, including two different Fedrigoni Symbol Freelife Gloss (200 gsm) options, Inapa Galaxi Art silk matte (170 gsm), Fuji Crystal Archive Glossy (382 gsm), Fuji Crystal Archive Luster (368 gsm), and Fuji Crystal Archive Velvet (370 gsm). For the thicker papers, like the Fuji options, books are capped at 112 pages.

The final customization comes down to the endpapers and inside covers, and here the choice is straightforward for both: white or black.

Photographers can create their own WhiteWall Coffee Table Book in one of two ways: by making it using WhiteWall’s new online editor or by uploading a complete PDF. Per usual, WhiteWall also offers.ICC soft-proofing profiles for its new book and its various paper options.

Pricing starts at $69.95 for the smallest Story Square book and 28 pages of Fedrigoni Symbol Freelife Gloss paper, with each four additional pages increasing the cost by $5.50. The largest book size starts at $139; additional pages cost $11.90 per four pages.
