The Big New Features in Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2024
Adobe announced its annual update to Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements which add many AI-powered features, a new editing experience, and a fresh look.
Among the new features in Photoshop Elements 2024 is “match color and tone.” This allows users to select colors and tones from built-in presets or their own images. “Click once, and then fine-tune hue, saturation, and brightness,” Adobe explains.
In the new Photo Reels, users can create a reel of their favorite images, each with text, effects, and graphics. Users can export them as MP4s or GIFs, enabling quick and easy sharing across multiple social media platforms.
Powered by Adobe AI, the select subject features that are heavily utilized within Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Camera Raw, and Photoshop are now available in Photoshop Elements 2024. Automatic selections make it easy for users to select the subject of an image or pick out just the background, enabling easier localized edits or compositing.
Regarding image editing, popular one-click edits are now featured in a Quick Actions menu. For example, there are one-click edits for blurring or removing a background, smoothing skin, performing dehaze, colorizing photos, and more. There is also an AI-powered “JPEG Artifacts Removal” option in this menu, which uses AI to automatically smooth and enhance compressed JPEG images.
Photoshop and Premiere Elements alike are both known for their Guided Edits. These step-by-step tutorials help users tackle common editing tasks and projects. Photoshop Elements 2024 now includes 62 of these tutorials, including new ones for Replace Background and Perfect Landscape.
Alongside these new features, Photoshop Elements 2024 sports a fresh coat of paint across the entire user interface. Adobe has modernized the app’s fonts, icons, buttons, and colors, plus they have added the option for users to swap between light and dark modes.
Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 gets some of the same improvements and new features as Photoshop Elements 2024, including matching color and tone, a new user interface, and more Guided Edits, bringing the total to 26.
The new version of Premiere Elements also gets in on the “Reels” experience with AI-automated Highlight Reels. This feature promises to create interesting video compilations by focusing on and including high-quality footage with motion and close-ups.
Premiere Elements also adds new audio effects like reverb, vocal enhancer, and “dehummer” to improve overall audio quality. The app also includes new graphics to spice up the video side of content.
Adobe has also announced that web and mobile companion apps include creative overlays, one-click photo fixes, and auto-syncing photos and videos across the Elements Organizer. These three features are currently only available in an English-language beta.
Pricing and Availability
Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 and Premiere Elements 2024 are available now. Each version is $99 for a new user and $79 to upgrade. A bundle with both apps is available for $150 (or $120 as an upgrade).
