DxO PhotoLab 4.1: Now Optimized for Apple’s M1 Chip via Free Update
DxO has announced the availability of PhotoLab 4.1, a free update to those who already own DxO PhotoLab 4. The update brings support for Apple M1 computers, an improved HSL tool, and adds five additional camera profiles.
Originally announced in October, DxO PhotoLab 4.1 promises three to five times faster performance compared to the most recent 13-inch Macbook Pro and Mac Mini. The company also says that this version’s optimization also runs silently on the new M1 Macs. Images are exported at 1.5 megapixels per second, which is faster than the previous version of DxO Prime. DxO says that it should take less time to complete any and all edits found in the software, and claims that because the technology applies a denoising and a demosaicing algorithm simultaneously, “the quality of photos (including low-ISO images) processed with DxO DeepPRIME is unmatched.”
Additionally, when using the HSL tool in DxO Photolab 4.1, it now displays a mask in the image being edited that lets you instantly identify the selected color area. DxO claims the result is a more seamless user experience.
Update 4.1 DxO PhotoLab 4.1 also contains five new camera profiles: the Nikon Z 6 II, the Sony a7C and a7S III, and the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1H. A new drone, the DJI Mavic Air 2, has also been added to the optical modules database.
As mentioned, those who already own DxO PhotoLab 4 can upgrade to 4.1 for free. For anyone else, the software is available for $100 for the Essential Edition and $150 for the Elite edition through the end of the year. Starting in January, the price for both will increase to $130 and $200 for the Essential and Elite editions.
